Remember my ‘I Give it a Year’ post? No? The Scot didn't either. That post will be three years-old in July, but as it’s only the beginning of the year, and we’ve lost almost two years to Covid, let’s see how that all panned out after just seven months. I think you’ll be proud of me!
Oh yeah, I don’t think I told you about that last one!
I've kept the titles from the last one, but in a nutshell, I pretty much needed to change everything, so yeah it was all going really well!
1 - I need my own place.
Tick! I’m on my second apartment since then! It’s ridiculously expensive to live on your own here, but as I have the Scot paving the way forward for me, I’ve saved a tiny bit of money by moving into the place he moved out of. Luckily, no one in the building speaks to me (after a year and a half of me trying) so they won’t read this. They probably just think I’m his girlfriend. He should be so lucky!
2 - I need to go on dates.
I knocked this one out of the park, kind of. I mean, I’m single again now but I did have a boyfriend (I think) for over a year. I’m going to put on my rose-tinted specs and call this one a win.
3 - I need a new job.
Another tick! I have a new day job. And it's working from home (obvs!) I remember when I got excited that I could go to work in flip-flops, I never thought that trackie bottoms and slippers would be a thing. So, instead of spending an hour and a half in the car driving 8 miles each way, I can be way more productive and exercise, read, write, watch the Beverly Hills Housewives from the beginning instead.
So yes, I needed a new everything 7 months (2.5 years) ago and here I am! Still a work in progress, but look how far I’ve come! Remember when I was risking my life on the bus every day, was too scared of my landlady to come out of my bedroom, and was fake protesting for a living? I'm living the dream baby!
